Biofilms

In many bacterial infections, especially the most persistent ones, such as infection by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a common and difficult-to-treat remedy for otitis, the presence of microorganisms is accompanied by biofilms, polymer structures secreted by the microorganisms themselves, which impede the effect of antimicrobial agents. treatments, making it difficult to eliminate these pathogens and strengthen their resistance to antimicrobial treatments.

External otitis has its origin in several factors.

Predisposing factors: for example the anatomical configuration (long ears, too much hair in the ear canal, excessive production of earwax), increases the risk of otitis.
Primary factors causing otitis. Allergies (atopic dermatitis, allergic reactions to food or drugs ...), parasites, foreign bodies, excessive keratinization of the pavilion and / or ear canal, endocrine or metabolic causes, neoplasia, autoimmune diseases, etc.
